REGISTRATION FEES

An annual registration fee per student is due at the time of new student enrollment. Please Note there is only one registration fee per family. If a student takes a break of 30 days or more there a $25 re-enrollment fee will be assessed to your account.
BILLING POLICY

Tuition is paid on a monthly basis in advance, is due by the 1st of the month and delinquent after the 7th. A $20.00 late fee will be automatically assessed for tuition received in our office after the 7th of the month. (No Exceptions) CPAA does not send monthly bills but will send general tuition reminders. If you are not receiving a reminder please notify the front desk. It is the participant's /parent's responsibility to ensure payments are received. Methods of payment accepted are cash, checks, and credit cards. If tuition is not paid in full by the 7th of the month, students will not be allowed to participate in class until all fees (including late fees) are paid in full. If a student's account is more than 30 days past due, they will be dropped from their class(es) and may lose their spot in class. Students are not permitted to re-register until their account is current. To participate in any studio functions including performances, students must not have any past due tuition or charges. Checks returned to the studio for insufficient funds will be charged a $25.00 service fee.

DROP A CLASS

In the event that a student needs to withdraw from one or more classes prior to the end of the season, written request must be made by the parent via this LINK . Drop requests need to be received by the 1st of the prior month (i.e. drops starting June 1st must be requested by May 1st). Please note: we only process drops at the first of the month. Costumes are nonrefundable after December.

RECITAL

CPAA holds an annual year end recital in June. Dancing in the recital is optional and not a requirement to participate in classes. Expenses will include costumes, recital tickets, and tights/shoes/undergarments. Pictures and DVDs are optional to purchase. Most classes will perform in one to three shows. Exact details will be released in April. Families may need to attend more than one show in order to see all their children(s)’ dances. Costumes are required for each routine a student will be performing in the year end recital. Prices range from $60.00-$95.00 per costume. Costumes MUST be paid in full by December 1. Costumes not paid in full by December 1 will be subject to an additional charge of $20.00 per costume and will not be ordered until payment is received.
Ballet/Tap Combo
Little dancers experiencing class for the first time is one of the most exciting moments at CPAA. Our combo classes provide a solid introduction into the world of dance in a playful, encouraging environment! Classes focus on the basic physical elements of space and how we relate to it, basic loco motor and non-loco motor movements, musical awareness, opposite directions, pathways, and elementary positions & movements and technical foundation of ballet and tap In addition to these physical elements, we integrate the intellectual concepts of self-awareness, teamwork, creative expression, imagination, and basic body health awareness. Educators now know that training young children in the above concepts lays a strong foundation for the later development of reading, mathematics and other educational skills. Early dance training is great preparation for all athletic activities.

Jazz
Jazz is one of the most popluar forms of dance for a dancer to train in, and experience. This art form tends to appeals many dancers due to its energy, variety, and vitality. Jazz classes explore both contemporary and classic jazz elements that draws inspiration from a wide range of music including today's top hits to jazz, swing, blues, soul and funk. All Jazz classes follow a specific technique & CPAA syllabus designed to build strong dancers who understand where the roots of jazz come from, allowing them to grow into the contemporary realm of jazz while maintaining the integrating of the art. Classes begin with a warm-up to develop strength, flexibility, correct alignment and coordination, followed by progressions across the floor, and culminates in extended dance combinations. The movement explores a range of styles in both lyrical and percussive disciplines with a focus on jazz elements such as isolations, swing, and rhythm. The goal is to develop dancers who are expressive, dynamic, musical and passionate.

Tap
Tap dancing is a timeless art that combines dance and percussion. Tap classes at CPAA explore a variety of tap styles and traditions including, rhythm tap (hoofing), soft shoe, jazz tap and Broadway tap. Class begins with warm up exercises in the center that increase control, coordination, and rhythm, followed by across the floor exercises that teach dynamics, shading, phrasing, and musicality, concluding with extended rhythmic phrases and often time improvisation exercises. The goal is to develop tap dancers that are equally strong musicians, dancers, and performers.

Ballet
Ballet Technique classes (for students age 6 and up) are the foundation for training at the CPAA and focus on developing a solid ballet technique with emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (epaulement), and use of arms (port de bras). CPAA syllabus exposes students to aspects of traditional Vaganova (Russian), Cecchetti (Italian), and American techniques. Class begins with work at the barre to build strength and coordination, followed by center exercises, culminating in a grand allegro combination or variation. Clear explanations of exercises and theory help students use the ballet vocabulary in a simple, practical way that leads to increased technical understanding, healthy physical development, and lifelong enjoyment. Students 11 and older with strong ballet technique, sufficient core and ankle strength, and a teacher's recommendation go on to study 'en pointe'.

Hip Hop
High-energy, fun for both boys and girls who want to learn everything from old school, popping, locking, and breaking to the style influenced by some of today's hottest video choreographers . Classes include conditioning and warm-up, simplified break down of each dance step, skill combinations and choreography. All moves and music are age appropriate and level specific.

Lyrical Jazz
Lyrical Jazz classes are designed for intermediate to advanced students with previous training in ballet and/or jazz. Students will explore partnering and weight sharing exercises combined with basic techniques and skills from ballet, jazz and modern. It emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics and mood while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. Students must take this class in conjunction with ballet.

Lyrical
Lyrical is a class designed with both the technical foundation of a ballet class and the expressive, creative elements found in other contemporary forms of dance. Students will find themselves breaking out of the traditional ballet class format while still building a strong technical foundation. Lyrical explores various elements and themes encouraging students to exercises their ability to express their creativity and emotions through movement. Choreography and combinations are often inspired by utilizing the mood and lyrics of the music.

Leaps/Turns
This class is a specifically designed technique class that focuses on jumping and turning; two technical aspects of dance that are used in almost all forms of dance and choreography. This class will teach students how to properly prepare for a jump safely to prevent injury to the body and also how to turn properly on the body's center access to prevent from falling over or feeling unstable. The ability to jump and turn correctly is very crucial to a dancer's technical progress, as well as injury prevention.

Contemporary
Contemporary is a hybrid of ballet, jazz, lyrical and modern dance styles. It is a ballet-based technique that allows a greater range of movement than the strict body lines and foot work in traditional schools of ballet. Contemporary exposes dancers to a wide range of techniques that fosters versatility. This class focuses on centering, strengthening the body, increasing flexibility, improving balance, proper placement, body alignment, fluidity and emotion. The dancer learns to let the music and their own passion guide the movement. The class consists of a warm up with stretching, floor barre, centre work, and a full dance routine at the end of the class which is all set to contemporary music.

Dance Tricks
Dance Tricks is an exciting and invigorating class that incorporates stretching, strengthening and conditioning. Students will cover basic elements including, handstands, cartwheels, front and back walkovers as well as other tricks that may be utilized in various styles of choreography. As students progress to higher levels, students will work towards handsprings, walkouts and various tricks that require a solid foundation established in previous level.
