THE ACADEMY WORKSHOP MUSICAL-ELF JR.

2ND GRADE-8TH
BEGINS SEPT 5TH. With the description: Musical Theatre production for 2nd-8th grade focusing on the creative process of putting on a production. This quarter’s production is Elf, the musical! Students will rotate between classes focused on music, choreography, acting and improvisation. Audition and casting will be held the first day of Academy Rehearsal. Culminates in a staged performance November 17th at 2PM and 4PM at the Schulman Theatre, located at the Dove Library. There will be a mandatory dress rehearsal on November 15th. (COST $250 per month)
Join us for our main stage production of Freaky Friday, the musical, performing Jan 19-20 at The Brooks Street Theatre! Auditions and callbacks: November 13-14 with callbacks on the 15th. Rehearsals: Nov 28th- Jan 13th (Tuesday/Thursday 5-8PM and Saturday 10AM-2PM) Tech week: Jan 16th-18th (5-9PM) Production fee: $400

THE ACADEMY - ELEMENTS OF ACTING (8TH - 12TH GRADE)

April-May, The Academy: Elements of Acting is perfect for 8th grade and high school actors of all experience levels that want to explore the fundamentals of theater and hone their craft in a focused setting. Students will work on the following skills throughout class. The course will culminate in a final showcase performance for friends and family combining original and published works! (COST $155/month) Voice and Speech: projection, articulation, and character choices; Movement: characterization in the body ;S cript Analysis: communicating the text of the scene; Monologue and Scene Work: exploring scene work through memorization and performance; Playwriting: developing original ideas by writing your own material
NON-ACADEMY PROGRAM (1 DAY PER WEEK, 3 MONTH COMMITMENT: Sept-Nov, Dec-Feb, March-May)

Scene to Song (4th-6th Grade)

Scene to Song is a Musical Theatre based class that allows students to hone in on their acting, singing and dancing skills! Each quarter we choose a different musical. Past Scene to Song classes have included: Mean Girls, West Side Story, and Mary Poppins! Students will learn acting skills and techniques while rehearsing a scene from a musical, which will transition seamlessly into an up-beat musical number, accompanied with live singing and musical theatre choreography. Become a true Triple Threat with this class! (COST $85 per month)
